OBU Invites Public to Five Student Recitals April 9-19

OBU's Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts and the Division of Music invite the university community and public to upcoming student recitals, April 9-19 on the OBU campus in Shawnee.
Seth Wright will debut an original composition in recital April 9 at 7 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. Wright, a senior music composition major from Oklahoma City, will host a pre-performance lecture of his composition, "Mass for the Penitent Soul," at 6 p.m. in Raley Chapel 203. The lecture is a presentation of his thesis, fulfilling requirements for the OBU Honors Program.
Thomas Whitmore will perform in recital April 12 at 2 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. He is an instrumental music education major from Shawnee. He is a member of Bison Glee Club, Symphonic Winds, Kappa Kappa Psi and Campus Activities Board. He has performed on percussion for OBU's productions of "Brigadoon" (2012), "Schoolhouse Rock Live" (2013), "Street Scene" (2013), "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (2014), and "Susannah" (2015). He is from the studio of Patrick Womack.
Kari Peercy will perform in recital on clarinet April 16 at 7 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. She is a musical arts instrumental major from Duncan, Oklahoma. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Symphonic Winds, OBU-Shawnee Community Orchestra, Bison Jazz Orchestra, Bison Brigade, Bisonette Women's Glee Club and Clarinet Quartet. She is the principle clarinet in OBU Symphonic Winds and the OBU Shawnee Community Orchestra. She is from the studio of Justin Pierce and will be assisted in recital by Sandra Meyer on piano and Ryan Meeks on horn. Her performance will include "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano" by Copland, "Trio in B-flat, Op. 274" by Reinecke, "Sonata for Clarinet" by Rózsa, and "Introduction, Theme and Variations" by Rossini.
Benjamin Hopkins will perform in vocal recital April 19 at 2 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. He is a senior vocal performance major from Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He is from the studio of Dr. Mark McQuade and will be assited in recital by Dr. Keith Whitmore on piano. His performance will include "Sound an Alarm!" by Handel, "Ich trage meine minne" by Strauss, "Mattinata" by Leoncavallo, "The Lament of Ian the Proud" by Griffes, and "Grace So Amazing" by Gene Bartlett, in addition to other works.
Emily Eubanks will perform in recital on flute April 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. She is a musical arts instrumental major from Harrah, Oklahoma. She is a member of the Bison Jazz Orchestra, OBU-Shawnee Community Orchestra, the Bisonette Glee Club, Phi Eta Sigma, Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Psi. She is the principal flute in OBU's Symphonic Winds, Bison Brigade Marching Band, and OBU musical theater. She is from the studio of Dr. Carlos Feller and will be assisted in recital by Sandra Meyer on piano and Feller on flute. Her performance will include "Andante Pastoral et Scherzettino" by Taffanel, "Sonata in A Minor, Wq. 132 for Solo Flute" by C.P.E. Bach, "Ballade for Flute and Piano" by Martin, "Mei" by Fukushima, "Variations on a Theme by Corelli" by Blavet, and "Duo for Flute and Piano" by Copland.
