University Chorale Announces Spring Tour Dates

The University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Brent Ballweg, recently announced spring concert tour dates in locations throughout Texas. The tour will run Feb. 5-10. The group is the premiere mixed ensemble on Oklahoma Baptist University's campus in Shawnee.
Friday, Feb. 6, the University Chorale will perform at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2001 W. Seminary Dr., in Fort Worth, Texas. The performance will take place during an 11:30 a.m. performance lab for faculty and students on campus.
Friday evening Feb. 6, the group will travel to Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas, for a 7:30 p.m. performance. The church is located at 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd. in Arlington. For more information, call (817) 274-1345.
Sunday, Feb. 8, the Chorale will perform at Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 Southwest Freeway, in Sugar Land, Texas. The performance will take place during the 9:45 a.m. service. For more information, call (281) 275-6505.
That evening, the group will perform at 6 p.m. during the Sunday evening service at Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft St., Houston, Texas. For more information, call (713) 723-6428.
Monday evening, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m., the Chorale will appear in concert at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas. For more information, call (972) 618-3450.
The Chorale also has performances scheduled April 12 at First Baptist Church of Mustang, Oklahoma, during Sunday morning services, and that evening at First Baptist Church of Piedmont, Oklahoma.
The group will perform pieces from their 2014-15 repertoire during the tour, which includes "Nun danket alle Gott," "Jubliate Deo," "How Great Thou Art," "Immortal Love, Forever Full," "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing," "Prayer to Jesus," "Ain't Got Time to Die," and "Let Everything That Hath Breath"
Since its founding in 1963, the University Chorale has been OBU's premiere mixed ensemble. Comprised of 45 of OBU's finest singers selected by audition, Chorale's purpose remains the same as it was in its earliest days, "to present advanced choral literature to the OBU campus and community." University Chorale is in demand for performances in the state and region and maintains an active performing schedule both on and off campus. The Chorale has previously appeared at the Southwestern Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association, The Church Music Workshop, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the Oklahoma State Youth Choir Festival and the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Conference.
The University Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Brent Ballweg, Burton H. Patterson professor of music and director of choral activities at OBU. He earned a bachelor's degree from OBU and a master's degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his doctorate at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Ballweg is an active guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for various festivals, music contests and workshops across the country.
