Keith and Kristyn Getty to Perform with 100-Voice Choir Sept. 15

OBU and Immanuel Baptist Church, Shawnee, welcome Keith and Kristyn Getty in concert Monday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. The event will take place in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium on the OBU campus, located at 500 West University in Shawnee. The evening of worship is part of the "Hymns for the Christian Life" tour and will feature the Getty's full Celtic band and a 100-voice choir of singers from area churches. The renowned Keith Getty and Stuart Townend hymn, "In Christ Alone," has remained the most popular song for congregations throughout the UK for seven years, among CCLI's top 10 in North America, and has been honored by both the British Hymn Society and BBC Songs of Praise all time lists. Their hymns are sung by congregations large and small, performed by choirs of every description, and have been recorded by artists throughout the world of music, including Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Natalie Grant, Newsboys and Aida's Heather Headley.
Heralded as modern hymn writers, Keith and Kristyn Getty are known for writing and performing songs that transcend traditional church boundaries, uniting the voices of people all over the world. Under the Getty Music label, Keith and Kristyn have recorded five albums to critical acclaim. They have also shared their music at the Pentagon, the GMA Dove Awards, Franklin Graham crusades, for President George W. Bush, at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and in the noted symphony halls of the U.S. and U.K.
