World Renowned Flutist and Harpsichordist to Present Guest Recital

OBU presents world renowned musicians Eva Amsler, flute, and Shalev Ad-El, harpsichord, in recital Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. The free concert will be held in Yarborough Auditorium on OBU's campus in Shawnee.
Amsler is a professor of flute at Florida State University, holding that position since 2001. For the previous 20 years, she played in Switzerland in orchestras and served on the faculty of the Vorarlberg State Conservatory of Music in Feldkirch, Austria, teaching flute, pedagogy and chamber music. She has enjoyed a worldwide career as a performer and teacher. A pioneer on the wooden flute, she organized a worldwide series of concerts with The Dorian Consort, of which she is a founding member. She is a soloist and Principal Flutist in the Tallahassee Symphony orchestra. She has appeared at concert venues internationally, including Carnegie Hall, Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., the Belk Theatre in Charlotte during the National Flute Association Convention 2011 and most recently at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau at the German Flute
Fest. Amsler's CD recordings have been released on the Ambitus and Cavalli labels, and her performances have been broadcast in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Scandinavia and the United States. She regularly holds master classes in Europe, the United States, South America and Asia.
Ad-El is the music director of Israel's highest ranking chamber orchestra, Netania Kibbutz Orchestra. He has quickly developed a reputation as one of Europe's most sought-after continuo players. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and won the first prize at the Francois Shapira Competition in 1987. He is a regular member of Il Gardellino in Belgium, The Dorian Consort in Switzerland, Stradivari Soloists of the Berlin Philharmonic and the music director of Accademia Daniel in Israel. As a soloist he has played with most of the leading orchestras in Israel including the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. As both a conductor and harpsichordist, he frequents some of the world's most prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall of London, 92Y, the Frick Collection of New York, Suntury Hall and Opera City of Tokyo. Ad-El has recorded more than 70 CDs. He has made numerous radio and TV recordings, both as a conductor and as a harpsichordist, and has given recitals and master classes throughout Europe, the Far East, South and Central America, Australia and the United States.
The program will include works by Telemann, W.F. Bach, Corelli, J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach. They will perform Cantabile, Allegro, Grave and Vivace from Telemann's "Sonata in C Major." They will perform selections from J.S. Bach's "Sonata in B Minor" and W.F. Bach's "Duo in E Minor." They will also perform theme and variations from "La Follia" by Corelli as well as the "Hamburger Sonata in G Major" by C.P.E. Bach.
