OBU Receives Citation of Gratitude
September 6, 2013
The State of Oklahoma recently honored OBU with a citation of gratitude as a result of emergency response efforts during the EF4 tornadoes May 19, 2013.
OBU provided temporary housing at Agee Residence Center for tornado victims and relief workers assisting victims through May 29. The university made 350 beds available to those in need or wanting to help.
The citation thanked OBU for going "… above and beyond to ensure that Oklahomans affected by severe weather and tornadoes were diligently cared for and made whole during their time of greatest need."
Also mentioned was OBU's tradition of service to its community, spirit of selflessness and care, and public service.
"The OBU community was grateful for the opportunity to assist in the tornado disaster relief efforts," said OBU President David Whitlock. "Specifically, Michael Burns and the Residential Life Staff of Dean Brandon Skaggs were instrumental in coordinating housing relief, workers and those impacted by the loss of their homes."
