University Ringers to Play in Illinois April 21

OBU's handbell ensemble, the University Ringers, will take a mini-tour to Illinois this weekend where they will perform on April 21 during the morning service at First Baptist Church, Brownstown, Ill., and during the evening service at Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham, Ill.
The University Ringers are directed by Dr. Lee Hinson, associate professor of music and coordinator of OBU's Church Music Department. Hinson has served as a worship leader in local churches, both part-time and full-time, for 30 years. For six years before coming to OBU he was director of the church music program at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. He also worked as the small church and associational music consultant for LifeWay Christian Resources.
Hinson earned a bachelor's degree at Baylor University. He earned master's degrees at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M - Commerce) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his doctorate at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Hinson is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Southern Baptist Church Music Conference, Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and The CenturyMen.
