Garcia to Perform Junior Recital April 16

OBU student Morganne Garcia will perform her junior recital Tuesday, April 16, at 8:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. The community is invited to attend.
Garcia, who plays trumpet, is a music education major from Rogers, Ark. The daughter of Patricia Holliday and Alberto Garcia, she is from the studio of Dr. Kevin Pruiett, assistant professor of music and coordinator of instrumental music. During the performance, Garcia will be assisted on piano by Dr. Carol Bell, retired associate professor of music, and on saxophone by Tabitha Gordon, an OBU senior from Fort Worth, Texas.
The recital will include works by Handel, Hummel, Kennan and Bronner.
During her time on Bison Hill, Garcia has been named to the President's Honor Roll and Dean's Honor Roll. She is a member of the Bison Jazz Orchestra; Kappa Kappa Psi, serving as president; Symphonic Winds; Bisonettes, OBU's women's glee club; and the National Association for Music Education, serving as secretary. She has appeared as a 2013 Concerto Aria Concert soloist, and she played Tot in "Street Scene."
Garcia has received numerous scholarships, including the Stith Memorial Music Scholarship, the Hall-Rice Memorial Scholarship, the Marilyn Ruth Morris Memorial Scholarship, the Tim Hodges Memorial Scholarship and the LaRue Pack Hogan Memorial Music Scholarship.
After graduation, Garcia plans to attend graduate school in trumpet performance, teach middle school band, and eventually earn a doctorate in music education or trumpet performance.
The audience is cordially invited to a reception in Raley Chapel Room 142 immediately following the recital.
