Fifth Graders Learn About World Cultures

OBU junior Amie Morvan, from Haltom City, Texas, teaches fifth grade students from North Rock Creek School in Shawnee, Okla., about home-life traditions in Mumbai, India, during an interactive children's museum at OBU Friday, April 12. The event, following an "Amazing Race" theme, was titled "Taking the Road Less Traveled: A Geographical and Cultural Study of Four World Cities." It was the 28th interactive museum at OBU directed by Dr. Jeanne Akin, professor of teacher education.
Tiffany Zenner, an OBU senior from Kiefer, Okla., tells Shawnee fifth graders about the culture of Seoul, South Korea, during an interactive children's museum modeled after an "Amazing Race" theme. OBU students in the Elementary Social Studies Methods course taught North Rock Creek School students about the geography and culture of Mumbai, India; Seoul, South Korea; Caracas, Venezuela; and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Chianelle Flores, an OBU senior from Visalia, Calif., teaches North Rock Creek Students in Shawnee about the Venezuelan economy. OBU's biannual interactive children's museum on Friday, April 12, was titled "Taking the Road Less Traveled: A Geographical and Cultural Study of Four World Cities."
