Bilyeu to Perform Junior Recital April 25

OBU student Brittni Bilyeu will perform her junior recital Thursday, April 25, at 8:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Bilyeu is a vocal music education major from Blanchard, Okla. She is the daughter of Kevin and Robin Bilyeu. A soprano, she is from the studio of Dr. Jennifer McQuade, assistant professor of music. During the performance, Bilyeu will be assisted by Dr. Keith Whitmore, staff accompanist, on piano; Sandra Meyer, staff accompanist, on piano; and OBU student Karissa Peercy on clarinet.
The recital will include works by Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Quilter, Liszt and Délibes, performed by Bilyeu, as well as works by Hindemith and Lutoslawski, performed by Peercy.
During her time on Bison Hill, Bilyeu has served as vice president of the Bisonettes, OBU's Women's Glee Club; historian and president of the OBU chapter of the National Association for Music Education; and historian of Sigma Alphe Iota. She has been named to the President's Honor Roll and Dean's Honor Roll. She also is a member of University Chorale and the University Concert Series.
Bilyeu has appeared in the OBU production of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and in Shawnee Little Theatre's production of "Hairspray." She served as Welcome Week Crew co-chair in 2012 and a Welcome Week Worker in 2013. She also has been the Young Singers of Central Oklahoma concert choir intern for 2012-13.
Following graduation in May 2014, Bilyeu hopes to pursue a career teaching middle school or high school choir.
