Strahm Senior Art Show Opens March 25
March 15, 2013
OBU student Skyler Strahm, a senior art education major from Royse City, Texas, will display her art pieces in an upcoming show titled "A little bit of everything!" March 25-April 4.
The public is invited to view the display in the OBU Art Building lobby area, located in the southeast corner of OBU's campus.
The theme of the show reflects the variety of Strahm's art pieces which include fibers, ceramics, paintings, drawings, calligraphy, photography and stained glass.
"Of the many mediums of art, pastels and charcoal are my favorite," said Strahm. "However I also enjoy stained glass and fibers, and I really like creating work on the computer as well."
Strahm is currently student teaching at Shawnee High School. Upon graduation in May 2013 she hopes to become an art teacher and volleyball coach. In addition to her studies at OBU, she played on the varsity volleyball team.
"I became interested in art during high school because my mom is an art teacher, and she really inspired me through taking a lot of her classes," said Strahm. "I feel like art has always been incorporated in my life somehow."
OBU's Art and Design Division is part of the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts and offers several degrees that cover most fields of art. Students can tailor their degree programs to their particular interests in art.
"Overall I have really enjoyed the art program here at OBU," she said. "My professors have inspired and taught me a lot throughout my time at OBU."
