Robison to Open 'Never Too Late' Art Show March 1
February 25, 2013
"Never too late" is the theme of OBU student Francine Robison's upcoming art show on Bison Hill. The show will run March 1-7 in the OBU Art Building, with an opening reception at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1. The reception and show are open to the public.
Robison's senior art show will include charcoal and pencil drawings, watercolor and acrylic paintings, portraits, prints, fibers woven on a loom, and numerous ceramic pieces.
"My favorite medium to use is clay, throwing on the wheel, but I also love weaving -- so much so that I have even purchased my own loom," said Robison.
The show is a collection of different ideas, drawing inspiration from numerous people and places. The unifying theme of the show is Robin's belief that it is "never too late" to jump into a new experience.
A resident of Tecumseh, Okla., Robison graduated from OBU in 1966 with a degree in social studies and education. Following her graduation, she earned her master's degree in English at the University of Central Oklahoma in 1970. Robison taught English at Chickasha High School and McLoud High School. She retired in 1997, although she eventually served as an adjunct professor at OBU for two more years, teaching English composition.
Since her retirement in 1997, Robison has attended many ceramic courses at OBU. With the initiation of the LifeLong Learning program, Robison was able to attend ceramic courses for free because she is an OBU graduate.
"One of the benefits of being in the LifeLong Learning program at OBU is the opportunity to study something entirely different from my original degree," said Robison.
By taking advantage of this opportunity at OBU and earning an art degree, Robison has proven that, indeed, it is "never too late" to jump into a new experience.
