Boot-Scootin' Biggie Variety Show Set for Sept. 15
September 13, 2012
OBU's Campus Activities Board will present the annual "Biggie" show with a wild-West twist. The show, titled "Boot Scootin' Biggie" and featuring skits and acts performed by upperclassmen, will be Saturday, Sept. 15, in Potter Auditorium of Raley Chapel.
The doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and the performance will begin at 8 p.m. As usual, admission to the event is free, and the entire OBU population and the general public are invited to come see OBU's first variety show of the year.
The spectacle will be directed by senior students Colin Metcalf, from Jenks, Okla., and Molly Starbuck, from Elk City, Okla.
"We chose Boot Scootin' Biggie because it was something that hadn't been done before," said Metcalf. "We really liked the idea, and knew we could do a lot with it. I'm excited about the show."
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) hosted auditions for the roles of emcees and performers more than a week in advance, and the acts have been practicing for perfection. One goal of CAB is to upkeep the longstanding tradition of quality performances by OBU upperclassmen.
"It is a huge honor for me to be a director of this, and I hope that the campus can benefit from the hard work poured into this show," Starbuck said.
Emcees for "Boot Scootin' Biggie" include Justin Doherty, Malcolm Baker, Paul Inman, Hannah Turner, Braedyn Lans and Parker Goforth. The acts include performances by Elizabeth Youngblood, Jessi Masterson, Brandon Melton, Brianna Munfus, Graham Jones, Sarah Stephens, Ashlyn Streck and Sammy Andrews.
