June 28, 2012
OBU swimmer Ines Remersaro will represent her native Uruguay in the 2012 Olympic Games in London this summer. Remersaro was ruled ineligible by the NAIA for the 2011-12 season, but is on track to swim for OBU in the 2012-13 season.
A freshman from Montevideo, Remersaro will swim the 100 and 200 backstroke for Uruguay.
"It's quite an accomplishment for anyone to participate in the Olympics," said OBU Coach Sam Freas."She's the best women's swimmer in Uruguay. It's exciting to have a true OBU'er in the Olympic Games."
Remersaro competes in the 100 backstroke, beginning July 29, while the 200 backstroke begins Aug. 2.
