Gower Chosen to Lead Marketing and Communications

OBU Provost Stan Norman has announced the appointment of OBU alum Paula Gower as the new associate vice president for marketing and communications. She will assume her duties on June 25, 2012.
Gower has worked for 27 years in the marketing and communications field. She most recently served as director of marketing and public relations at Oklahoma City Community College where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the college's integrated marketing and advertising plans as well as publications, websites and media relations.
Previously, she served as an independent marketing communications consultant, serving clients across the state of Oklahoma. Her services included directing marketing campaigns, editing publications, managing staff, facilitating rebranding and website project management, among other duties.
She also served as public relations coordinator at Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center in Choctaw, Okla., and public information specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in Stillwater, Okla. Her career began on Bison Hill as a news writer in the public relations office at OBU.

"As an OBU alum and lifelong Oklahoma Baptist, she not only understands and embraces the mission of OBU, but she also has a deep passion for helping us advance our mission. Her educational preparation and professional experience make her an incredible asset for Oklahoma Baptist University."
Gower graduated magna cum laude from OBU in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in public relations, and she earned a master's degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Her husband, Grant, is a teacher and head football coach at Deer Creek High School in Edmond. The Gowers have three children: Matt, Cami and Macy. They are members of Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
