Jones to Perform Senior Flute Recital April 15

OBU senior Andre Jones will perform his senior flute recital Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Jones is a music education major from Lawton, Okla. The son of Darnell and Susan Jones, he is from the studio of Nancy Stizza-Ortega, an adjunct professor of flute at OBU. He will be assisted in the recital by Stizza-Ortega on flute and Sandra Meyer, retired associate professor of music, on piano.
The recital will include selections by Ernest Bloch (1880-1959), Georg Phillip Telemann (1681-1767), Carl Reinecke (1824-1910) and Albert Franz Doppler (1821-83).
Jones is a member of the OBU Symphonic Winds, alumni secretary for Kappa Kappa Psi and secretary for the Bison Glee Club. He was selected as a performer in the esteemed Concerto-Aria Concert for both 2011 and 2012. During his time on Bison Hill, he has been named to the President's Honor Roll and the Dean's Honor Roll. He has received several music scholarships including the Warren M. Angell Tribute Scholarship, Catherine Mae Bardwell Memorial Scholarship and the Michael Cox Bison Glee Club Scholarship.
Following graduation, Jones anticipates earning his master's degree in music education and working as a music teacher for middle school and high school students.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the performance.
