Harper to Offer Senior Tenor Recital April 20

OBU senior Andrew Harper, a tenor from Olympia, Wash., will present a vocal recital Friday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. The community is invited to attend.
Harper is a music major with a voice emphasis with a minor in history. He is the son of Terry and Kim Harper of Olympia. He is from the studio of Dr. Louima Lilite, assistant professor of music at OBU. Harper will be assisted by Dr. Keith Whitmore, OBU accompanist, on piano.
The program will include works by Purcell, Mendellsohn, Brahms, Shumann, Shubert, Tosti and di Capua. Following a brief intermission, the recital will continue with works by Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Ravel, Charles, Duke and Menken. The program will conclude with an arrangement of "Jesus Loves Me" by Harper.
During his time on Bison Hill, Harper has been named to the President's Honor Roll and Who's Who Among Students 2012. He was a finalist in the Musical Theatre Initiative of Kennedy Center American College Theater in 2012. He has received the Varnum Scholarship, Mary June Tabor Scholarship and the Virginia Reese Scholarship.
Harper serves as accompanist for the Bison Glee Club, and he also is a member of the University Chorale. He has appeared as Tommy in "Brigadoon," as Guillot in "The Lantern Marriage," Figaro in Musical Theatre Opera Scenes and as Rapunzel's Prince in "Into the Woods."
Following graduation, Harper plans to pursue graduate studies in voice performance and pedagogy.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 following the recital.
