Steven Floyd has been named controller at OBU. He joined the Bison Hill staff in October.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Floyd earned his bachelor's degree in 1991 and his master's degree in 1994. He became a certified public accountant in 1995. He came to OBU as comptroller for the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training for the State of Oklahoma, where he also served as an accountant.
"OBU is fortunate to have a person with Steve's education and experience fill this role," said Lauri Fluke, assistant vice president for finance and administrative services. "We are excited about the contributions he will be able to make in the accounting area."
At OBU, the controller is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Business Office, including monitoring internal controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. As such, Floyd plays a significant role in ensuring good stewardship of the university's funds, Fluke said.
Floyd previously worked in private business as a CPA in Sherman, Texas, serving both businesses and individuals in their financial matters. He served as the director of finance and a financial analyst for Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, also in Sherman. He was chief financial officer for Western Plains Youth and Family Services in Woodward, Okla. He served as a financial analyst, SQL programmer and teacher, and international accounting analyst for Halliburton Energy Services in Duncan, Okla.
