OBU Remembers 'Path to the Cross' with Special Service
April 20, 2011
The OBU community recognized Holy Week, the week before Easter, with a special chapel service titled "Path to the Cross: The Passion of Christ" on Wednesday, April 20, in Raley Chapel.
The service followed several specific moments leading to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. Dr. Lee Hinson, associate professor of church music, encouraged the students, faculty and staff in attendance to listen to Scripture passages, meditate on works of art and sing in worship and response.
The sacred moments included The Garden (Luke 22:39-46), The Betrayal (Matthew 26:45-50), The Denials (Luke 22: 54-62), The Scourging (John 19:1-3; Isaiah 53:3-5a), The Crucifixion (John 19:16b-17; Mark 15:24-27; Matthew 27:45-50, 57-61), Our Response (Romans 5:6-8).
An ensemble of the Bisonettes, OBU's Women's Glee Club, sings "Your Grace Still Amazes Me," during the special chapel service.
Dr. Lee Hinson, associate professor of church music, leads the OBU Community in singing "Jesus Paid It All" during the chapel service.
