Reinhart, Slocum Present Senior Recital

OBU seniors Micah Reinhart and Kristen Slocum, both sopranos, performed their final vocal recital Monday, March 7, in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The recital partially fulfilled the requirements for their bachelor's degrees in music.
Reinhart is a music major with voice emphasis from Mooreland, Okla. The daughter of Ramine and Jody Reinhart, she is from the studio of Norma Partridge, professor emerita of music. During her time on Bison Hill, Reinhart has been named on the President's and Dean's academic honor rolls and received the Betty Ruth Davis Scholarship. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, in which she has served as both president and sergeant-at-arms. She has also served as an at-large senator in the OBU student senate.
Reinhart's musical endeavors on campus have included singing in the chorus in "The Tender Land" and playing the role of Miss Pinkerton in "The Old Man and the Thief." Following graduation, she plans to run a private music studio and eventually pursue a master's degree in vocal performance.Slocum is a worship arts major with voice emphasis from Collinsville, Okla. The daughter of Steven and Pam Slocum, she is from the studio of Dr. Jennifer McQuade, assistant professor of music. As a student at OBU, she has been named to the President's and Dean's academic honor rolls. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Fellowship for Church Musicians. Following graduation, she plans to serve as a missionary in Asia to "use all of my God-given gifts for his glory," she said.
The recital included alternating performances by the sopranos, with a duet of "Mein Gläubiges Herze" by Bach opening the evening and "Pie Jesus" by Webber closing the event. The performance also included Reinhart's selections by Mozart, Strauss, Duparc, Donizetti and Duke; and Slocum's selections by Berlioz, Satie, Handel, Puccini, Haydn, Liddle and Knowles.
Reinhart and Slocum were assisted by Dr. Keith Whitmore on piano and harpsichord; soprano Jodi Mann; and Valerie Hunt on flute.
