Hamrick to Perform Senior Recital March 25

OBU student Jonathan Hamrick will perform his senior recital Friday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Hamrick, a composer, is from Albuquerque, N.M. The son of Dan and Ruthanne Hamrick, he is from the studio of Dr. James Vernon, professor of music. He is a member of OBU's Mortar Board, University Chorale and the Bison Jazz Orchestra. After graduation, he plans to become a film composer.
The recital will include several pieces composed by Hamrick: "Phrygian Fugue," written in 2011, features OBU students Sara Elliot on trumpet, Jeremy Smith on horn, Tyler Neighbors on trombone and Johnathan Flowers on tuba. "Lux in Tenebris" (2010), features a selected choir ensemble of OBU students.
"Sonata in F" (2009), will be performed by Hamrick on piano. He will also perform "The Rainy Day" (2008), with text by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow performed by OBU student and baritone Casey Flynt. "The Ghost of Helen Raley" (2010) will be performed on piano by OBU student Abigail Chaplin.
The recital will conclude with "Life Suite for Two Flutes and Piano" (2004), featuring OBU students Valerie Hunt on flute, Beth Polston on flute and Emily Rowland on piano. The suite includes "Child's Fanfare," "Adolescent Dreamer," "Lover's Nocturne," "Worker's March" and "Death's Reflection."
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
