Duo-Pianists Meyer, Lewis in Concert March 21

Duo-pianists Sandra Meyer and Dr. Ron Lewis will present a concert at OBU on Monday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the concert, which is comprised of favorite selections of music for two pianos they have performed through the years.
The concert, originally slated for Thursday, Feb. 10, has been rescheduled due to forecasts of inclement weather.

The program will open with "Suite No. 2, Opus 17" by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943). The performance will include "Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn, Op. 56b" by Johannes Brahms (1833-97) and "Variations on a Theme of Paganini" by Witold Lutoslawski (1913-94).
The pianists will also perform "Sonata" by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963); and portions of "Suite No. 1, Op. 5 'Fantasy'" by Rachmaninoff.
Meyer serves as associate professor of music at OBU where she has taught in the piano and theory departments since 1975. She earned degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Iowa, with postgraduate study at the University of Oklahoma. She is a member of the College Music Society, Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, Music Teachers National Association and Oklahoma Music Teachers Association. A nationally certified member of Music Teachers National Association holding permanent certification, she is currently serving as State President of Oklahoma Music Teachers Association.
Lewis, professor emeritus of music, taught piano and served as keyboard chairman for 36 years before his retirement in 2006. He earned degrees from Ouachita Baptist University, University of North Texas and the University of Oklahoma, where he studied with Dr. Digby Bell. Lewis presently serves as university organist at OBU as well as organist for First Baptist Church in Shawnee. He his wife, Jo, have two sons, both graduates of OBU.
