Alum Receives Poetry Awards

OBU alum, former administrator and esteemed poet Robert Lynn recently presented a reading from his most recent book of poems, "Midnight Verse," in Oklahoma City at the fall meeting of the Poetry Society of Oklahoma. Awards were presented in five categories, and Lynn received first place in two of the contests for his poems, "Christmas Eve in Henryetta" and "Autumn Compass." He has been a member of the Poetry Society of Oklahoma for 10 years.
Lynn received a bachelor's degree in journalism from OBU in 1953. He served as vice president of OBU from 1967-75, and interim president for one year. Following his administrative term at OBU, he served as president of Louisiana College for 12 years.
He has written and edited 10 books collectively and has received a number of awards for them. Aside from the Poetry Society, Lynn is a member of the statewide poetry societies of North Carolina and Alabama, and he leads the John Creek Poetry Group in Atlanta.
