Students Serve Community on GO Week
September 22, 2010
OBU students Devin Warfield and Kathryn Barrett, along with nine of their classmates, work to clean garbage, brush and small trees from Dunbar Heights in Shawnee on Saturday, Sept. 18. Warfield is a junior Bible major from Enid, Okla., and Barrett is a senior mathematics major from Neodesha, Kan. The students served the community during OBU's Global Outreach Week, working in conjunction with Rev. David Henry, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.
OBU student Caitlin Dacus, a senior anthropology major from Overland Park, Kan., works to clear brush in Shawnee's Dunbar Heights neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 18, as part of OBU's GO Week service projects. "A community non-profit organization has a great vision for this area to revitalize it into a outdoor community area with river access," Dacus said. "Thus, we were able to contribute toward this process -- a process which will probably take several years."
