Alum Roger Colby Publishes ‘Transgression Box’
March 2, 2010
Oklahoma Baptist University alum and author Roger Colby recently published his first novel, "The Transgression Box." The book is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other book retailers.
Colby, who graduated from OBU in 1996, teaches English at Little Axe High School in Norman, Okla. He said his book, a science-fiction novel, is an allegory and satire of American Christianity.
"The biggest problems facing Christians today are biblical illiteracy, apathy and carnal Christianity," said Colby. "This book brings these issues to light in a satirical form that is an action-packed science-fiction novel."
Colby said he is excited about readers' initial response to the book. At his first book signing at Hastings bookstore in Norman, the book sold out within two hours.
"Apparently it is really catching on, and I'm glad it is, of course, but I am more excited about the reactions that people have been giving me," said Colby. "Those who get the satire are taking a close look at their lives and figuring out that their method for following Christ is flawed, and they soon repent and try to live for Jesus. It's really why the book was written."
