English Professors Present Papers

Three professors from the Oklahoma Baptist University English Department recently presented papers at the annual meeting of the Southwest Conference on Christianity and Literature at Houston Baptist University.

Dr. Karen Youmans, associate professor of English, Dr. Andrew Armond, assistant professor of English, and Dr. Benjamin Myers, associate professor of English, all presented papers at the event.

Youmans delivered a paper titled "'Listeth of my drem to lere': Can Chaucer's House of Fame Engage a Postsecular Christian Poetics?" Youmans received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and her doctorate from the University of North Texas with her dissertation, "Chaucer and the Rhetorical Limits of Exemplary Literature."

Armond delivered a paper titled "The Relationship of Atheism and Apophasis in Philip Larkin and R.S. Thomas." Armond earned his bachelor's degree at Louisiana Tech University and his master's degree and doctorate at Baylor University.

Myers delivered a paper titled "Spenser's Fairy Land and the Fallen World." Myers earned his bachelor's degree from the University of the Ozarks and his master's degree and doctorate from Washington University.
