Theatre Season Opens Oct. 2 with ‘Anatomy of Gray’

Oklahoma Baptist University's Theatre Department will open its 2009-10 season with the production of "Anatomy of Gray," a fable that portrays the marriage of faith and science, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Craig-Dorland Theatre, located in OBU's Shawnee Hall.

Other performances will be presented Oct. 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Written by Jim Leonard, "Anatomy of Gray" is set in a small Indiana town during the late 1800s. Fifteen-year-old June Muldoon is shaken by the death of her father, and Galen P. Gray is in search of his life's purpose. Gray lands in the town of Gray, Ind., perceived as a miraculous healer - until a mysterious illness affects the community. The play tackles the themes of death, loss, love and healing in a unique coming-of-age story most appreciated by adults and teens ages 13 and older.

Directed by Dr. Joyce Spivey Aldridge, OBU associate professor of theatre, the cast includes: Katherine Wortley, a junior theatre major from Fort Smith, Ark.; Jack Johnson, a freshman youth ministry major from Grove, Okla.; Ashley K. Mounts, a junior theatre major from Kiefer, Okla.; Trevor Mastin, a sophomore theatre major from Shawnee, Okla.; Cylie Hall, a sophomore theatre major from Lindsay, Okla.; Katie Tyner, a senior theatre major from Moore, Okla.; Sherrod Donnelly, a freshman political science major from Dallas; Megan Lauchner, a junior theatre major from Vinita, Okla.; and Elliott Freeman, a junior anthropology major from Paola, Kan.

Tickets are now on sale for "Anatomy of Gray." General admission is $6 for students and $8 for adults. Season passes also are available for the 2009-10 OBU Theatre season which includes "Anatomy of Gray," "All in the Timing" and "How I Became a Pirate." Season tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.
