Students to Present 'Growing Up Biggie' Sept. 19
September 15, 2009
Oklahoma Baptist University students will continue a long-running campus tradition while paying homage to the many stages of life with "Growing Up Biggie," Campus Activities Board's first performance of the academic year, Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. in Raley Chapel.
The public is invited to attend the free annual showcase, which allows OBU upperclassmen to display their talents and abilities through performing arts.
Directing the show is Hannah Hays, a senior from Monkey Island, Okla., and Matt Longacre, a senior from Frederick, Okla. Campus Activities Board (CAB) conducted auditions last week for the show's emcees and acts. CAB and Biggie participants will spend the two nights before the show rehearsing for the anticipated event.
"We chose the theme 'Growing Up Biggie' because it represents a common life experience," Hays said. "We think it is a unique theme because it involves the whole campus - all generations."
Hays said the show will feature skits that represent many stages of life, from the nursery to the nursing home.
Emcees for "Growing Up Biggie" include Leslie Fort, a sophomore from College Station, Texas; Sam Henderson, a sophomore from Mesquite, Texas; Channing Howard, a senior from Pryor, Okla.; Mandi Koszalka, a sophomore from Independence, Kan.; Tim O'Gwynn, a sophomore from Shawnee, Okla.; and Reji Smith, a senior from Grapevine, Texas.
CAB also will host "Freshmen Follies," a production dedicated to performances by freshmen students, on Oct. 10, which will coincide with OBU's Family Day.
