Bison Hill to Host Marriage and Family Therapy Conference

Oklahoma Baptist University will host the Oklahoma Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (OKAMFT) conference for students, new professionals and mentors Friday, Sept. 18, in the Geiger Center. Registration for the conference begins at 8:30 a.m., and the sessions will begin at 9 a.m.

Conference topics will include discussions for students and new professionals regarding national exam study/licensure processes, insurance billing, networking and selecting a supervisor. The discussion for supervisors/mentors will include a supervision training course. This offering is an approved course for both state and AAMFT approved supervisors as a five-hour refresher class.

"I'm very excited that OBU continues to support the profession of marriage and family therapy in the State of Oklahoma through hosting conferences such as this one," said Canaan Crane, OBU assistant professor of psychology. "The psychology: pre-counseling major at OBU continues to have a good number of students who go on to pursue graduate training and a career in marriage and family therapy. Conferences like these are good opportunities for our students and faculty to interact with other professionals from around the state."

Students, new professionals and mentors in the field of marriage and family therapy are invited to attend. The student conference cost is $20 for OKAMFT student/associates and $35 for non-OKAMFT members. Registration ends Friday morning; however, those wishing to attend lunch on Friday should register by Wednesday, Sept. 16. Lunch is included with the cost of registration.
