Oklahoma Baptist University has slated a variety of activities to welcome new freshman and transfer students during its 22nd annual Welcome Week, starting with move-in day Saturday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m. New student orientation will be at 3 p.m., followed by a reception hosted by OBU President David W. Whitlock and his wife, Dana, at 4:30 p.m.

The week will include many opportunities for new students to become familiar with the university's traditions and meet their classmates, their professors and OBU staff. Small-group activities allow new students to pair with "Tri-Ws," or Welcome Week Workers, whose focused task is to create a welcoming environment on Bison Hill.
The schedule concludes with Saturday in the Park, a free celebration at Shawnee's Woodland Park on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m. The event includes guest worship leaders Afshin Ziafat, Robbie Seay Band and Price Hill Band.
