History Professors Review Books for Academic Journals

Oklahoma Baptist University professors of history Dr. Carol Humphrey and Dr. Glenn Sanders wrote book reviews for the latest issue of "Fides et Historia," the journal for the Conference on Faith and History. Sanders also has a review published in the current issue of the journal "Christian Higher Education."

For "Fides et Historia," Humphrey reviewed Nicole Eustace's "Passion Is the Gale: Emotion, Power, and the Coming of the American Revolution," published by University of North Carolina Press in 2008. Sanders reviewed Colin Morris's "The Sepulchre of Christ and the Medieval West: From the Beginning to 1600," published by Oxford University Press in 2005, and Raymond Cohen's "Saving the Holy Sepulchre: How Rival Christians Came Together to Rescue Their Holiest Shrine," published by Oxford University Press in 2008.

For the journal "Christian Higher Education," Sanders reviewed Anthony T. Kronman's "Education's End: Why Our Colleges and Universities Have Given Up on the Meaning of Life."

Humphrey received OBU's Distinguished Teaching Award in May 2009. She has received numerous awards for her papers through the American Journalism Historians Association. She also has served as a manuscript reviewer for various journals and publishers. She is the author of numerous published articles as well as five books on topics such as the Revolutionary War, The War of 1812, and the role of New England Newspapers during the American Revolution.

Sanders serves as chair for the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences. He has received OBU's Promising Teacher and Meritorious Service Awards. He teaches the Western Civilization sequence, Middle East: Politics and Culture, and Senior Seminar.
