July 21, 2009
Casey Curtis, Oklahoma Baptist University regional admissions counselor, was named the College Rep of the Year from the Midwest Region at the annual North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals conference June 2-5 at Cedarville University in Ohio. Curtis serves the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
"(Casey has) the best balance of any rep I've seen in serving as an advocate for students while still keeping her university's best interest in the process," said Dr. Jan Miranda, director of guidance and college placement for Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas. Miranda was one of two high school counselors in the territory who nominated Curtis for the award.
According to their Web site, the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) represents more than 250 schools, colleges, universities, graduate schools and seminaries which promote the vision of Christian higher education. NACCAP exists to provide professional development, support and encouragement for Christian college, graduate school and seminary admissions personnel and high school guidance counselors across North America.
"Casey does a fine job of not only representing OBU to prospective students, but challenging them to discover and pursue God's larger plan for their lives as well," said Bruce Perkins, director of OBU Admissions.
