Camp RAWC’ to Encourage Healthy Choices for Kids
June 5, 2009
The Recreation and Wellness Center (RAWC) is offering Shawnee-area kids an opportunity to learn about healthy choices this summer through "Camp RAWC." The camp will teach children what it takes to be physically healthy, as well as making healthy choices with what they eat and how they play. Games, healthy snacks and fun are all a part of the learning experience at Camp RAWC.
All children ages 6-12 years old are invited to attend the camp, but with only 28 openings available, registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. in the lobby of OBU's Recreation and Wellness Center on University St.
Camp RAWC will be 1-5 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between June 15 and July 31 at the OBU Wellness Center. Cost for the camp is $60 for RAWC members and $120 for non-members.
"Camp RAWC will be a place where kids learn and experience wellness principles that they can take and use for the rest of their lives," said Kerri Foster, associate director of OBU's Recreation and Wellness Center. "Kids at Camp RAWC will find out how to incorporate fun activity and a healthy diet into their every day, and what the advantages of doing so are. Your child will love, and benefit from, the Camp RAWC experience."
