Foreign Language Professor Wins Award
May 19, 2009
Dr. David Nagle, Oklahoma Baptist University assistant professor of German, received the Oklahoma Foreign Language Teachers Association's Alfred L. Gage Professional Service Award this spring. The award recognizes a professor's outstanding commitment and service to the foreign language teaching profession.
Nagle received the award, named for the association's executive director emeritus, at the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching awards luncheon in Norman April 3.
"I had been nominated and selected without any knowledge that I was even being considered," Nagle said. "Thus, receiving the award was especially gratifying."
In addition to teaching all German courses, Nagle is the faculty sponsor for the German Club and the German Honor Society OBU chapter. His academic interests, in addition to German language and culture, include effective teaching methodologies, and appropriate integration of technology in classroom and online instruction. In October 2008, he completed a two-year term as President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German. The last two years he also served on the board of the Oklahoma Foreign Language Teachers' Association.
