Sisters Gordon and Mitchell to Perform Recital

Morgan Gordon and Micaela Mitchell, both Oklahoma Baptist University senior music education majors, will present their senior recital Monday, May 4, at 7 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
Gordon and Mitchell, sisters from Lexington, Okla., and are the daughters of Angela Lind and Randy Gordon. Both are from the studio of Rhetta Hudson, OBU senior professor of music.
The recital will feature musical selections by composers such as Scarlatti, Mozart, Schubert, Massenet, Puccini and Bernstein. Gordon, a lyric soprano, and Mitchell, a soprano, will be assisted in their recital by Dr. Keith Whitmore, OBU instructor of music and staff accompanist, on the piano and harpsichord, as well as their parents.
During her time on Bison Hill, Gordon was named to the Pi Kappa Lambda honor society, the Phi Eta Sigma honor society, and was named a performer in the 35th annual Concerto-Aria Concert.
Gordon is a member of the University Chorale, the Bisonette Glee Club and Anna's Prayer. She serves as the president of Sigma Alpha, the vice president of OBU's local Music Educators National Conference chapter, and a student conductor for the Young Singers of Central Oklahoma, a community-based choral music program.
In her career on Bison Hill, Mitchell was named a performer in the 33rd annual Concerto-Aria Concert as well as a recipient of the Woodward Scholarship.
Mitchell is the vice president of the Bisonette Glee Club, the historian for the University Chorale, and has served as both vice president and president of OBU's local Music Educators National Conference chapter. She is the wife of Justin Mitchell from Lexington.
Both Gordon and Mitchell plan to teach music in public schools after graduation.
The audience is invited to a reception following the recital.
