OBU Public Relations Receives State Awards
August 13, 2008
Oklahoma Baptist University's Public Relations Office recently received two awards for publications in the annual Oklahoma College Public Relations Association awards competition. The university's design for its 2007-08 theatre brochure received top billing, and the OBU Basketball media guide earned third place.
Chele Marker served as art director and graphic designer on both pieces. William Pope, who serves as staff photographer, provided images and Ray Fink, OBU's sports information director, provided content for the media guide.
"External recognition for your work is always appreciated," said Marty O'Gwynn, OBU associate vice president for university communications. "We were pleased to be honored for these pieces.
"This is the second straight year for the theatre brochure to gain a top honor in the OCPRA competition," O'Gwynn said. "Chele's creative work on the brochure helps to promote the strengths of OBU Theatre.
"Ray, Chele and Bill do extensive work each year to produce the media guide, and each year the guide gains awards at the state or national level."
Membership in the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association is open to every college and university in Oklahoma, whether public or private. Individuals working for non-member institutions may also submit their most creative work to OCPRA's Annual Awards Competition and Show.
"With nearly 500 entries this year, the competition is heated, and the winners earn striking awards at the summer conference's signature event, the awards show," the organization's Web site reported.
