Collazo Gets 100th RBI as OBU Loses Title Game
May 2, 2008
Oklahoma Baptist lost the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament title game to Lubbock Christian, 17-7, despite another milestone for first baseman Josh Collazo.
Collazo, who was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year after the game, became the first Bison player to reach 100 RBI in a single season. Collazo got the RBI on a sacrifice fly to second base, scoring Billy Thomas who doubled and moved up to third on a sacrifice by Kyle Cooper.
That gave OBU a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but LCU tied it with a run in the bottom of the first.
The Bison went ahead 3-1 in the second on a two-run home run by Christian Ruiz.
LCU bounced back with a five-run second and never trailed again.
OBU made it 6-4 in the third with an RBI single by Chris Chambers, but the Chaps scored four more in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-4 lead.
