LCU Sweeps Lady Bison

Third-ranked Lubbock Christian scored a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference softball wins at Oklahoma Baptist Sunday, 6-0 and 10-2.

Marissa Gonzalez fanned 13 batters and scattered three hits in the shutout of OBU in the opener. Jami Pate had two singles and Brooke Stevens singled for the Lady Bison.

Raquel Hawkins and Gabby Woody each lifted their 11th home runs of the season to deflate a three-hit performance over 6.1 innings of work by Alicia Avilla (3-4).

OBU trailed 6-0 in the second game before getting on the scoreboard in the third inning with an RBI single by Kaley Dickerson and a sacrifice fly by Jayme Boyer.

Hawkins hit two more home runs and finished with six RBI as Sonia Beach fell to 7-13 on the season.

Dickerson had two hits for OBU, while Aylssa Henkes and Bobbi Day added one apiece.

Now 17-23 overall and 6-8 in the SAC, the Lady Bison host Oklahoma City Tuesday.
