Lady Bison Split at Bacone
April 17, 2008
Oklahoma Baptist and Bacone run-ruled each other in a doubleheader split Thursday with OBU losing the opener 16-2 before shutting out the Warriors 14-0.
The Lady Bison got their only runs of the opener on an RBI single in the second inning by Bobbi Day and a solo home run in the fifth by Jayme Boyer.
Sonya Beach took the loss, allowing three home runs, including two by reigning Region Player of the Week Sasha Long.
Boyer and Day had two hits each with Alyssa Henkes adding a double, amongthe Lady Bison's eight hits.
OBU equaled game one's run total in the first inning of the second game, getting one run on an error and another on an RBI singles by Kaley Dickerson.
A six-run fourth blew the game open as OBU collected seven hits and benefited from two errors.
Hilary Davis singled home a pair of runs, followed by an RBI double by Brittney Day. Brooke Stevens added an RBI single and Boyer followed with a two-run single.
That was more than enough support for Alica Avilla, who twirled a two-single shutout - her first of the season.
But the Lady Bison piled on six more runs in the fifth, including RBI singles by Brittney and Bobbi Day, a sacrifice fly by Boyer and a three-run home run by Pate.
