Bison Split at SNU

Oklahoma Baptist split a pair of 6-2 games at Southern Nazarene Saturday, giving the Bison the series, two games to one.
OBU won the Saturday opener, while SNU captured the nightcap.
In the opener, SNU carried a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning, but the Bison erupted for four runs on four hits and an error after being shut out for four frames by Josh Cephas .
OBU got RBI singles by Josh Kirkpatrick and Billy Thomas to go along with a two-run single by Kyle Cooper.
The Crimson Storm cut it to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but OBU added two more in the sixth on a two-run single by Thomas.
Adam Garner (6-1) went the distance for the Bison, scattering seven hits and fanning five batters.
Thomas, Cooper and Whitt Barkley had two hits each for the Bison, who finished the game with eight.
The Storm jumped Derek Edwards (4-2) for five runs in less than two innings of work in the second game.
OBU managed single runs in the second and seventh innings with an RBI single by Cody Lambeth and a solo home run by Cooper.
The Bison had seven hits in the game, led by Cooper with two.
OBU, now 32-9 overall and 16-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, step outside the conference action Tuesday with a home game against Northwood.
