Lady Bison Split at SNU

Oklahoma Baptist dropped into second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings after a split at Southern Nazarene.
OBU won the opener in nine innings, 5-4, but dropped the second game 5-3.
The Lady Bison jumped out on top in the second inning on consecutive singles by Brittney Day, Bobbi Day and Sonya Beach for a 1-0 lead.
Kaley Dickerson ripped a two-run double to make it 3-0 in the third inning, but SNU clawed back with three unearned runs in the fifth and took a a 4-3 lead with a run in the seventh.
The Lady Bison tied things up in the seventh with an RBI single by Alyssa Henkes. After a scoreless eighth, Chelsea Hull came up with a two-out RBI pinch single for the 5-4 lead.
Whitney Heltzel (7-4) worked out a first-and-third, one-out jam in the bottom of the ninth by getting a pair of ground outs.
The Lady Bison collected eight hits in the game, including two singles by Henkes and doubles by Dickerson and Jami Pate.
OBU scored first in the second game, on an RBI single in the first inning by Dickerson.
The Crimson Storm took a 2-1 lead in the third and made it a 3-1 game in the fourth.
A sacrifice fly by Dickerson and a passed ball to score Henkes tied things at 3-3 in the fifth, but SNU added two runs in the fifth off of Alicia Avilla (2-3) for the final lead.
Pate and Henkes had three hits each for the Lady Bison, who are now 16-16 overall and 5-1 in the SAC.
OBU hosts St. Gregory's Friday at 2 p.m.
