Lady Bison Lose Two to SGU
March 28, 2008
St. Gregory's took both ends of a double header at Oklahoma Baptist Friday, 6-0 and 5-2.
In the first game, Sharon Bell and Kaylen Woosley combined on a one-hit shout-out and an impressive string of 19 consecutive batters retired.
Jami Pate led off the bottom of the first on an infield single and moved to second on a ground out. Kaley Dickerson drew a two-out walk and the next 19 batters were all outs - 10 by Bell and nine by Woosley.
SGU got a solo home run in the first by Kyra Hart and a two-run blast by Nicole Tindall in the fourth.
Sonya Beach (7-10) took the loss.
St. Gregory's jumped out to a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and third innings, but Dickerson ripped her sixth home run of the season - a two-run shot to center - to tie the game in the bottom of the third.
Woosley finished the inning and was replaced by Bell, who shut OBU down for the final four innings. Bell fanned the first nine batters she faced.
Cortney Reynaga supplied the two-run home run in the three-run top of the fifth for the difference-maker.
Pate led the Lady Bison with two hits.
Whitney Heltzel took the loss to dip to 7-5 on the year.
OBU travels to Claremore to play Rogers State April 1.
