Shawnee's Fink Signs with Lady Bison
February 15, 2008
Oklahoma Baptist University softball has added a familiar face to its roster for the 2008-09 season with the addition of Shawnee High School left fielder Kelly Fink.
She is the daughter of OBU head softball coach Pam Fink and OBU sports information director Ray Fink.
Kelly Fink, who played two years for coach Todd Boyer's Lady Wolves, also played one season at Bethel High School and was a member of the Lady Wildcats' state champion slow-pitch team as a freshman.
"Kelly has lived and breathed OBU softball since before she was in elementary school," said Pam Fink. "It will be interesting for her to experience life as a Lady Bison. It will be interesting for me, too, because I haven't coached her since her first year of softball."
Fink is the third child of a current OBU coach to play for his or her parent. Chris Cox played baseball at OBU for coach Bobby Cox and Kyle Tolin played basketball for coach Doug Tolin.
Fink, who plans to major in psychology, is a member of the National Honor Society and is the sports/health editor for the school newspaper (Wolves Journal).
"I've grown up as an OBU kid," said Kelly. "I've always wanted to go here."
