Lady Bison Add All-State Keeper Robinson
February 5, 2008
All-Region and State Champion goalkeeper Sarah Kathryn Robinson of Roebuck, S.C., signed a letter-of-intent to play soccer at Oklahoma Baptist University, beginning in the 2008 season.
Robinson, the daughter of Glenn and Rhonda Robinson, moved to Dorman High School in South Carolina after her All-District (second team) freshman season in Nacogdoches, Texas.
She earned the starting spot as a sophomore at Dorman and finished the year with a 0.4 goals against average for the state championship team, earning All-Area with 15 shutouts.
Robinson was All-State and All-Region in 2007 as a junior with 16 shutouts for the region champion DHS. She also competes for the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy club team, reaching the State Cup finals before losing on penalty kicks after two overtimes.
"We are extremely excited to have a goalkeeper of Sarah's quality coming to OBU," said OBU coach Brent Coates. "She comes from a great team and has had a tremendous amount of success in high school. Sarah has all the qualities we look for in a great goalkeeper, she has great size, is incredibly athletic, has soft hands and will be a great addition to our program. We fully expect for Sarah to come in and compete for the starting job right away as our expectations of her are very high. Sarah's potential and upside are like none we've had to this point at OBU."
Robinson also is a leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Dorman and is an active member at First Baptist Church in Spartanburg. Her post-college plans include working with physically disabled children.
"I love the campus and the people here at OBU," Robinson said. "I'm excited to play soccer and it just felt like where God wants me to be."
