Bison Win Two in Texas

Oklahoma Baptist University closed out its Texas trip with two wins Saturday, knocking off host Hardin-Simmons 12-6 and College of the Southwest 17-10.
The Bison avenged its first loss of the season in the win over HSU, allowing no earned runs on two errors. Doug Hurn got the pitching win with eight innings of work.
OBU had 13 hits, including three by Josh Collazo and two each by Christian Ruiz, Kyle Cooper and Chris Chambers.
The Bison scored three times in the first inning on a three-run home run by Collazo, but fell back 4-3 after the bottom of the frame. The Cowboys added two in the third for a 6-3 lead but the offense was done after that.
OBU scored four times to take 7-6 lead with an RBI grounders by Whitt Barkley and Frank Avilla and an RBI single by Ruiz.
Four more came in for the Bison in the seventh on three Cowboy errors.
Barkley tacked on an RBI single in the eighth for the final 12-6 margin.
In the win over CSW, the Bison rallied from down 5-0. OBU scored twice in the third on an RBI double by Cooper and an RBI single by Mason Reilly.
The Bison tied the game 5-5 in the fifth on a three-run blast by Keith Johnson.
The Mustangs went up 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Bison blew things up with six-run frames in the sixth and seventh.
In the sixth, OBU got RBI singles by Collazo, Josh Kirkpatrick and Cooper, a two-run single by Ruiz, and an RBI walk by Cody Lambeth.
In the seventh, Barkley forced in a run with a bases loaded hit by pitch, a three-run triple by Lambeth and an RBI single by Collazo.
Reilly had five hits in the game to pace the 17-hit Bison attack. Collazo and Kirkpatrick had three each and Ruiz and Cooper had two apiece.
Derek Edwards picked up the win in relief, going 2.2 innings without an earned run.
Now 9-1, the Bison start Sooner Athletic Conference action Thursday against Northwestern in Shawnee.
