February 8, 2008
Oklahoma Baptist racked up another blowout Friday and moved to 7-0 with a 14-3 run-rule victory over College of the Southwest at the Hardin-Simmons University Classic in Abilene, Texas.
OBU, earlier national leaders in runs per game at 16 heading into the contest, trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but tied the game when Christian Ruiz doubled and eventually scored on a balk and Joshua Collazo sacrifice fly.
CSW scored their final run in the top of the second for a 3-2 lead that lasted until OBU struck for three runs in the third inning. The Bison got a sacrifice fly by Chris Chambers, an RBI single by Collazo and a bases-loaded walk from Frank Avilla.
OBU tacked on five in the fourth on a grand slam by Collazo and an RBI single by Chambers.
Chambers added another RBI single in the fifth for an 11-3 lead.
The Mustangs gifted OBU its final three runs with a bases loaded walk to Mason Reilly, a wild pitch that allowed Josh Kirkpatrick to score, and the bases-loaded plunking of Chambers.
Collazo finished with two hits and six RBI, while Chambers had a pair of hits and four runs batted in. Christian Ruiz had three hits, while Kyle Cooper and Kirkpatrick also added two each.
Brent Robison (2-0) picked up the win with three scoreless innings from Josh Palmer for the save.
