Bison Drop Two to LCU

Eighth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist lost in Sooner Athletic Conference action for the first time Friday, dropping two games to No. 4 Lubbock Christian, 4-1 and 12-1.
"Those were two good arms they threw out there at us today," said OBU coach Bobby Cox of LCU complete game winners Chris Holguin and Gary Poynter.
OBU took a 1-0 lead in the opener, scoring in the first inning on a Josh Collazo RBI single.
Lubbock Christian, hitless through the first two innings, reached Josh Palmer (1-1) for four hits and two runs in the third inning and then added two more in the sixth.
OBU was held to three hits in the game - singles by Collazo, Kyle Cooper and Frank Avilla.
The second game got away from the Bison in a hurry as OBU committed three first inning errors and trailed 6-0 before picking up a bat.
Christian Ruiz scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first for the lone OBU tally in the game.
OBU again was limited to three hits - singles by Ruiz, Collazo and Avilla.
Now 16-3 overall and 6-2 in the SAC, the Bison host LCU for the series finale Saturday at 1 p.m.
