Lady Bison Pound MACU 95-49

Fourth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist gave Mid-America Christian their first taste of the Noble Complex with a 95-49 win Saturday.

The Lady Bison got off to a 7-0 start and never lost the lead. Sooner Athletic Conference newcomer MACU got within 10-6 before Ashley Gamble ignited a 26-7 run with consecutive three-pointers.

"She can score and we want to get her more touches," said Lady Bison head coach John McCullough.

Gamble led all scorers with 19 points to go along with five assists.

"We just knew we needed to stay focused," Gamble said, "and it should go down as a win for us."

While Gamble lit the net on offence, Heather Graham picked things up on the defensive end, snatching six steals in the first 13 minutes, seven on the game for a season high. She also scored 15.

"I thought Heather did a good job of getting us going," McCullough said.

The Lady Evangels turned the ball over 34 times, 21 on OBU steals.

Betsy Simmons beat the buzzer with a layup to end half 48-20. She finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

The lead hovered around 27 for the first seven minutes of he second half before the Lady Bison started to push the lead again.

"We had good moments in both halves, but we also looked a little sloppy," McCullough said.

Erin Pickering came off the bench to score 11 of the bench's 40 points.

The Lady Bison improved to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in SAC play. They host No. 16 Oklahoma City at 6 p.m. Saturday.
