Bison Strong at Jayhawk Invitational

Oklahoma Baptist had a good day Friday in Lawrence, Kan., at the Jayhawk Invitational, hitting 21 national marks, including six new automatic bids.
Five of those six new qualifiers came on the women's side. Marissa Moseley ran a second-place 57.08 time in the 400 meters. In the 200 meters, Aletha Hubbard finished fifth at 25.80. Earning first the 4x800 meter relay team ran a 9:43.17 race and Olivia Boisse tossed a 14.84 meters in the weight throw.
Yesenia Avila took second in the 600 yard dash in 1:26.58 with Optimum Baker, who previously qualified, at her heels at 1:26.96. The 4x400 relay team and Nicole Cummins in the triple jump also hit qualifying marks again. The distance medley team repeated their provisional performance.
For the men, the 4x800 team marked their tickets to Johnson City, Tenn., with a first-place 7:53.36 time.
Five men made the 'B' standard for the first time. Olashubomi Bashorun did it twice, in the 60 meters (6.98) and the 200 meters (22.55). In second, T.J. Lightsey crossed the finish at 1:56.63 in the 800. Jonathan Hilton high jumped a sixth-place 1.99 meters. In the 400 meters, Bradley Jimmerson finished fourth at 50.32; Prophet Bailey ran the 600 meters in 1:22.41, good for fourth.
Improving on his previous time, A.J. Carter came in second in the 600 at 1:20.57. Lamar Baskin and Hilton finished second and fourth, but not improving their previous times in the 60 meter hurdles.
Next weekend, the teams will send some representatives to Lincoln, Neb., and some to Norman.
