Former OBU Faculty Member Jo Bond Dies July 31

Long-time Oklahoma Baptist University faculty member Josephine Bond died Tuesday, July 31. She was 84.
A native of Shawnee, Bond served at OBU for 36 years. She began working on Bison Hill as secretary to former OBU Vice President Dr. Orin Cornett in 1949.
Bond worked in other administrative positions, including secretary to OBU President John Wesley Raley. She also was director of admissions from 1955-57.
In 1970, Bond began teaching as an assistant professor of business. She taught business until retiring in 1985.
Bond is survived by her husband, Leroy Bond, who taught art at OBU from 1949-80. She also is survived by her two sons, Alan and Andrew, her daughter, Rebecca, and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Shawnee's First Christian Church.
