OBU Hits Eight Qualifying Marks in Joplin

Oklahoma Baptist hit eight national qualifying marks and seven more provisional marks in the Missouri Southern Open Invitational Indoor Track Meet Saturday.
The OBU men reached five qualifying marks and three provisional qualifying standards, while the Lady Bison recorded three of each.
Michael Rodgers made the big impact, qualifying in two events and winning both. Rodgers won the 60 meters in a qualifying time of 6.69 seconds and ran away with the 200 meters in a qualifying time of 21.75 seconds.
T.J. Lightsey qualified in the 600, winning the 600 yard dash in Joplin in 1:11.87.
Theron Stoltzfus won two events as well. He won the 3000 meters in a qualifying time of 8:38.87 and also captured the mile run in a provisional time of 4:22.55.
Lamar Baskin finished second in the 60 hurdles with a qualifying time of 8.31 seconds. Jonathan Hilton was third with a provisional 8.58.
Derek Nettles also had a provisional qualifying mark, placing fourth in the 400 meters at 50.70.
The 4x400 relay team won with a provisional qualifying time of 3:22.82.
The Lady Bison 4x400 team placed second on the women's side with a qualifying time of 3:58.02.
Kyli Bean won the 800 meters with a qualifying mark of 2:11.71.
Amanda Mayfield was second in the 600 yards, qualifying for nationals in 1:25.23.
Lauren Watson was a provisional qualifier in the mile run, placing fourth in 5:14.77. Ebonique Wilson was fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a PQ time of 9.42 seconds. Michelle Carpenter was high jumped 5-3, good enough for fifth place and provisional standard.
